MANPREET BABRA - PRODUCER & WRITER

Manpreet Babra graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelors in Commerce, majoring in Marketing and minoring in Law. She decided to pursue her life long ambition to write and create films last year joining the  Entertainment Business Management program at Vancouver Film School, successfully producing a short film entitled ASHÜ. An avid world traveller, book worm and fantasy enthusiast Manpreet has always had a penchant for storytelling. She is a producer and content creator with grandiose dreams, bringing a great deal of passion, dedication, and imagination to this project.

KAREN LAM - MENTOR

Karen Lam has been a full-time producer since 2000, producing four feature films, seven short films, and three television series.  Her first short film as a writer/director (“The Cabinet”) won the NSI Drama Prize in 2006.  She has since written seven feature film screenplays, and directed four short films, and two feature films, “Stained” (2010) and “Evangeline” (2013).

Karen’s 2011 short film “Doll Parts” has been invited to over 51 international film festivals since its completion.  She has been profiled in horror magazines “Fangoria” and “Diabolique”, and listed on Planet Fury’s “2012 Top Ten Canadian Genre Directors To Watch.” She was the series director on the true crime documentary television series “Very Bad Men,” (2012) for ten episodes, produced by Make Believe Media in Vancouver, and broadcasting on Investigation Discovery US and Canada.

She is currently in post-production on her second feature film, “Evangeline”, after completing two short films “The Meeting” and “Stalled”, both completed in February 2013.

NADAV SANTO - DIRECTOR

Nadav has had much success directing short films and web pilots, turning many heads as a result of his passion for darker material. Slated to helm the feature film, WAR PAINT, Nadav joins team DARK DWELLINGS excited to dive into the world of a child's fears and imagination to help unfold this beautiful story about loss and faith.

MARK HOGAN - 1ST AD

Mark Anthony Hogan was born in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Vancouver over a year ago to pursue a career in the film industry. He hopes to continue working with film to ultimately direct a steam punk thriller.



 

BOBBY HENWOOD - STORY EDITOR

Graduated from the VFS Writing for Film and Television program with honours and is currently a TA within the same department. He has a penchant for outrageous comedy and outlandish children’s fantasy stories and has been on the writing team of multiple Compendium short films Beautiful Beast, Blood Runs Cold, Tumbling After, and Ashü.



 

STEVEN DAVIES - VFX ARTIST

​Steven Davies has come a long way since graduating from Vancouver Film School's prestigious 3D Animations and Visual Effects program. As Lead Roto/Prep Artistat MPC he has worked on films such as - Superman: Man Of Steel, Life Of Pi, Jack The Giant Slayer, & Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. He also lent his skills earlier this year , joining Team ASHÜ  where he led the VFX team.



 

ALEX MARIN - COMPOSER

Alex Marin was born in Mexico City. At the age of 8 he started to play guitar. After that his talent in guitar got better so he started to learn more instruments such as: piano, bass, drums & percussions, mandolin, ukulele, accordion and harmonica .
In late 2011 Alex went to study at the Vancouver Film School (VFS) that's where his skills as music composer for films grew. In his year at VFS he did the music for 24 short films (independent films and films made by a production company) and wrote one of those films called "Il Tempo Vola" which was produced by Russian Sasha A. Schriber in Bergamo Italy.
Alex Marin has diversify in his music and artistic talents and continues making different projects to fulfill his art passion.

SCOTT MCKENZIE - COLOURIST

Scott McKenzie became interested in filmmaking, winning first place in the 2008 “Hamilton 24 Hour Film Festival” alongside a group of friends, while studying Multimedia at McMaster University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  Scott worked in live sound and lighting for a few years setting up and operating concerts and corporate shows in southern Ontario. In 2012 Scott decided to go to Vancouver Film School to pursue a career in film and specialize in Cinematography and Post Production, ultimately developing a passion for colour correction.  He is currently doing freelance work as an editor and colourist.

JUAN J. FRAGOSO - SOUND DESIGN & FOELY ARTIST

Juan Fragoso is a Sound Designer and Foley Artist whose passion for sound has found expression with Films, Video Games and any interactive media. Every piece created by him is the culmination of intense artistic motivation and unbending attention to detail. “I have a great passion for sound, and I believe that it plays an integral part in human existence; my dream is to share this passion with others through my work.” His extensive training around the world combined with technical expertise allow him to create sound with cinematic quality for a variety of diverse projects. 



 

CAST

MILLI WILKINSON - NORA

​At 9 years of age Milli has packed a lot of activity into that time. Playing piano, violin, dancing, swimming and bike riding are just some of the activities that keep Milli busy. Acting became her “thing” while she was still in preschool. After her first set of classes she was noticed by a talent agent, and within weeks Milli had booked her first commercial. She stared as the younger version of Renesmee on the feature film Twilight:Breaking Dawn, soon after. Milli loves acting and does not imagine it will ever be something that is out of her life.



 

CLARISSA JORQUERA - Makeup Artist

​Always a fan of iconic creatures like Frankenstein’s monster Clarissa has had a lifelong intrigue about how a character starts off as an idea to something that lives and breathes.

A graduate from VFS Makeup Design Program Clarissa is now able live out her creative curiosities and become involved in the development of characters, such as the Guardian in Dark Dwellings.

 

RODRIGO ROCHA-CAMPOS - DOP

Rodrigo Rocha-Campos is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and the Florida State University, where he respectively obtained a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Motion Picture Production. To date, he has shot numerous fictional short films in various formats and genres. While attending graduate school, Rodrigo shot the horror film The Resurrectionist, which went on to receive the 2005 Heritage Award for its outstanding cinematography from the American Society of Cinematographers, ASC.
Since graduation, Rodrigo has taught many Camera and Lighting workshops and Cinematography courses in institutions in Central Florida and in British Columbia.



 

KEN DRESEN - GRANDFATHER

Ken Dresen has been a theatre professional for over thirty years and currently works in film and television in Vancouver; he is an Audio Describer for live theatre, and a popular MC and cutup at Burlesque. Ken studied Musical Theatre and Dance in Edmonton, and received French instruction in Montreal; he is fluently bilingual. He adores the opportunity that indie film brings, and is pleased to be co-lead in a short film that screened in Cannes, this May 2013.
